All patients with diabetes who are fasting during Ramadan should terminate fasting if:
1. Their blood glucose is less then 3.9 mmol/L
2. Their blood glucose is more than 16.6 mmol/L
3. They are acutely unwell
People with diabetes who are at moderate risk or high risk for Ramadan fasting are not obliged to replace the terminated fasting days after Ramadan, and may opt to pay fidyah instead.
